Title : Buyer / Planner
Reports to: Purchasing Manager
Job Purpose: To execute raw materials replenishment
using materials requirements planning within an enterprise resource planning
system according to the guidelines of Purchasing policies and procedures. Also
assists with supplier selection/management, various non-direct-materials
related spend, special sourcing projects, and general support for the
Purchasing department.
Key responsibilities and accountabilities:
1. Set and maintain system parameters such as safety
stock, time fences, and min/max.
2. Maintain bill of materials (BOM) records in materials
requirements planning (MRP) software.
Includes system maintenance for production
posting errors, etc.
3. Analyze system planned/transfer orders in order to make
replenishment decisions.
4. Issue purchase orders/requisition materials for the plant as
needed to support operations.
5. Process purchase requisitions from user departments for
materials not scheduled through MRP system.
6. Write and distribute routine Request for Quotations (RFQ's) as
needed.
7. Compile bid information as needed.
8. Manage some non-materials related spend categories.
9. Work with various plant personnel on special sourcing projects.
10. Work with Receiving and Payables personnel to accomplish day-to-day
responsibilities.
11. Coordinate shop floor testing of any materials for which you have category
responsibility.
12. Complete systems adjustment during month-end physical inventory process.
13. Manage the process that comes with the initiation of graphics changes
and/or gaining new business.
Qualifications:
1. Experience required utilizing a MRP system such
as Microsoft Dynamics AX, SAP or JD Edwards.
2. Prefer 3 years experience in a manufacturing environment.
3. Required knowledge of inventory control logic/best practices.
4. Proficient with Microsoft Excel spreadsheets.
5. Proficient with Microsoft Word documents.
6. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
7. Bachelor's degree in business and 3 years purchasing experience.
